Considered one of the most significant choreographers of his generation, Trajal Harrell fulfilled an old dream by staging The Köln Concert – a monument to the history of piano improvisation by Keith Jarrett. At the same time, he produced the first piece by his young dance company at Schauspielhaus Zürich. The year is 2021 and Covid is in full swing, amplifying the message conveyed by the seven dancers, i.e. sticking together to feel less vulnerable. Leaving their chairs one by one, on tiptoe, Harrell and his six black-draped dancers perform a dance that mixes genres, evoking voguing and Greek antiquity.
