Rising alto saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin will kick off the 41st edition of the Festival. The New Yorker will perform songs from her widely acclaimed album which was released in January 2023. Born out of a car accident that could have been fatal, Phoenix is a highly personal project that brings together female figures in jazz who have served as mentors to the musician. Reflecting the musical legacy and experiences that have shaped her journey, the tracks, blending funk and blues infused with spoken words, reaffirm the exceptional talent of this composer and arranger. With the legendary singer Dee Dee Bridgewater as a prestigious guest, this concert in Cully promises to deliver high-quality surprises.
