A musical performance specially designed for children aged three and up, centered around Maurice Ravel's Ma Mère l'Oye.   Special for kids! Ma Mère L'Oye Les Rencontres Musicales de Champéry offer a concert specially designed for children aged three and upwards, based around Maurice Ravel's Ma Mère l'Oye. Inspired by famous fairy tales, this delicate, imaginative work invites young and old alike to enter a musical universe imbued with poetry and gentleness. Ravel draws his inspiration from Charles Perrault's Sleeping Beauty and The Little Thumb, but also from Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont's Beauty and the Beast and Madame d'Aulnoy's The Green Coil, major figures of literary storytelling in the XVIIᵉ and XVIIIᵉ centuries. The music finely translates these marvelous tales, between mystery, tenderness and enchantment. Presented as a concert-show by the musicians of Variations Musicales, this adaptation enhances the narrative while retaining the richness of Ravel's writing. Mattresses will be set up on the floor so that the youngest can listen in comfort, in a welcoming and appropriate setting.
