La Cité Bleue
La Cité Bleue Genève
This project was born of the encounter between Virginia Woolf's work and Domenico Scarlatti's Stabat Mater, a rare gem of the Baroque repertoire never before staged. Simon-Pierre Bestion and La Tempête freely revisit Scarlatti's material and indulge in a stunning and jubilant sound experience - there's electric bass, accordion, even a musical saw! - The Stabat Mater is discovered with new ears. Linked by the myth of the maternal figure, eight tableaux from different eras, guided by Woolf's writing, are grafted onto the music to take us on a journey through time, questioning the place of the sacred in our daily lives.
