EMOH LEEF is proud to host an exceptional evening on the occasion of the launch of the album “CHAMA”, born from the singular encounter between Brazilian singer and performer Dandara Modesto and guitarist and composer Edwin Correia. Emerging from a first meeting in Salvador de Bahia in 2023, this project is rooted in a dynamic of dialogue, deep listening and shared creation. Between Switzerland and Brazil, the two artists have developed a common language, nourished by their Afro-Brazilian heritage and a sensibility deeply open to contemporary music and jazz. Conceived as a musical journey, “CHAMA” explores a territory where traditional rhythms meet contemporary harmonies and electronic textures. Carried by poetic lyrics and a refined approach to sound, the album weaves intimate and evocative soundscapes, navigating between memory, ancestry and modernity. On stage, the duo brings this living material to life with striking intensity. Dandara Modesto’s inhabited voice, rooted in the body and performance, enters into dialogue with Edwin Correia’s subtle and expressive playing, shaped by jazz, blues and the traditions of North-East Brazil. Together, they create a moving sonic space where improvisation, composition and presence intertwine. A transdisciplinary artist based in Zurich, Dandara Modesto develops a practice centred on the body, rhythm and memory, exploring notions of ancestry, migration and spatiality. Her work, at the crossroads of music, performance and visual arts, has led her to numerous stages across Europe and Brazil, and has notably earned her the Performancepreis Schweiz. Based in Lausanne, Edwin Correia is emerging as a rising figure on the jazz and cross-cultural music scene. Trained between Toulon, Paris, HEMU and Brazil, he collaborates with renowned artists and develops a personal musical language at the intersection of Brazilian traditions, jazz and contemporary forms. His debut album “BRILHANTE”, released on the INMELO MUSIC label in 2022, is a true gem. True to its identity, EMOH LEEF offers an intimate experience where proximity to the artists, quality of listening and intensity of presence take centre stage. This album launch reflects a desire to build bridges between cultures, generations and sensibilities, within a warm and open setting.
