Yamma means 'towards the sea' in Hebrew, and in Arabic it means 'mother'.The Yamma ensemble, formed in 2010, performs niche music, played on traditional instruments such as duduk, ney, kopuz, oud or shofar, and connects the listener to earlier times, offering the depth of a spiritual and traditional heritage with some very original contemporary nods. In addition to original compositions, Yamma also performs traditional music and forgotten pieces from the various Jewish diasporas, songs from the Yemeni, Persian and Sephardic communities that have been preserved over the generations.These exceptional artists invite us on a magnificent journey to the East, to discover the influences that make their work so rich.
