The Mighty MicrobiomeTiny organisms, big impact: The science transforming animal health and nutrition Tuesday, 24 November 2026 | LausanneEver had a gut feeling about something? There may be more science behind that expression than you think! Our microbiome is an extraordinary ecosystem of trillions of microorganisms — including bacteria, viruses and fungi — living in and on our bodies. Far from being passive passengers, these tiny organisms play a vital role in digestion, immunity and overall health. The gut-brain axis, the complex two-way communication network connecting our digestive system and brain, is just one fascinating example of how microbiome research is opening new perspectives on health and well-being. But what about our animals? Their microbiomes are equally important, influencing everything from digestive and immune health to their overall well-being. At its state-of-the-art research centre, opened in June 2025 at Biopôle, ADM is advancing the science of the animal microbiome, using innovative technologies to develop science-backed nutritional solutions for pets, livestock and aquaculture. Its research includes prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics, with the aim of supporting animal health through better nutrition. Join fellow INSEAD alumni and their partners for a special opportunity to discover the science behind the scenes, learn about the latest developments in microbiome research and observe ADM's laboratory facilities through viewing windows, in accordance with the centre's safety and biosecurity requirements. Our interactive visit will be followed by a relaxed apéritif at the nearby Hôtel Aquatis — a chance to continue the conversation and catch up with fellow alumni.   Speakers Peter Jüsten, PhDVice-President, R&D Health & Wellness, ADM Peter Jüsten leads Research & Development for Health & Wellness at ADM (Archer-Daniels-Midland), a global agrifood & biotechnology company. He oversees a global organisation developing new customer-centric & science-based active ingredients resulting in sustainable & industry leading growth in human and animal health. Prior to joining ADM, Peter led R&D organisations across multiple life-science sectors including pharmaceuticals, APIs, dietary supplement and food ingredients, cosmetics, and crop protection. The TGM executive program at INSEAD enabled him to broaden his leadership perspective and subsequently serve as General Manager of several business units from 2012-2018. With more than 25 years of international experience, Peter also serves on the boards of several global industry associations.   Antoine Chabloz, PhDDirector, Animal Microbiome Research Centre, ADM Antoine Chabloz is a scientist, innovator, and creator of research organizations with expertise spanning oncology, translational biology, microbiome science, nutrition, and health. After a career as a professional ice hockey player, he obtained his PhD from the renowned IMP/IMBA research institutes in Vienna. He subsequently established a 500 m² research laboratory at UBC in Vancouver, transforming it from concept to a fully operational facility while recruiting and leading a team of 12 scientists and technical specialists. Following a leadership role in a Swiss biotechnology startup focused on immunomodulation, he joined ADM to establish the Animal Microbiome Research Centre in Lausanne. Today, he leads a multidisciplinary team of scientists and experts developing microbiome-driven solutions for companion animals, livestock, and aquaculture, advancing innovation in animal health, nutrition, and sustainable production.   Programme 16:00 – Registration and welcome coffee16:15–17:30 – Introduction to microbiome research and guided viewing of the laboratory facilities17:30–18:00 – Interactive Q&A session18:00–19:00 – Apéritif at Hôtel Aquatis (included in the ticket price) Key FactsAvailability: Strictly limited to 15 participants — advance registration essential. When: Tuesday, 24 November 2026, from 16:00Where: ADM Animal Microbiome Research Centre, Bâtiment Serine, 1st floor, Biopôle, Route de la Corniche 6, 1066 EpalingesPublic transport: Lausanne Métro M2, stop Vennes (direction Croisettes)Parking: P+R Vennes / Aquatis Tickets: CHF 30 per person – INSEAD Alumni Association Switzerland members and one accompanying partner (CHF 60 for two – apéritif included in the ticket price)CHF 50 per person – INSEAD alumni non-members and other guests To ensure a personal and interactive experience, this special visit is limited to 15 participants.
