Milking Cows and Making Raclette - Festivals

Spend an afternoon being an alpine dairy hand and watch the cows being milked right in the pastures! When you’ve worked up an appetite, you’ll tuck into a delicious snack of Raclette cheese. Straight from the field to the table! Well, more or less... In any case, the famous Valaisan raclette cheese comes from these very fields. Today, you’ll hike out into the pastures to meet a local farmer while he is milking the cows. Afterwards, you’ll have a chance to sample 6 different raclette cheeses, washed down with a thirst-quenching drink. There’s no more idyllic setting or authentic experience to be had in the Alps! Practical information:- The location of the event is approximately 30 minutes walk from the Porte de Culet car park. Signs will guide you to the exact location where the milking will take place. Recommended material:- Weather appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for walking in the mountains and in muddy pastures. Information:- Reservations open until 5:00 pm the previous day.- Minimum 2 participants.
