Description

Musician and composer Mélodie Gimard presents an exclusive masterclass open to all musicians wishing to explore the secrets of flamenco. A pianist and composer recognised for her creativity and contemporary approach, Gimard will guide participants through flamenco from a woman’s perspective, exploring technique, rhythm and improvisation. Programme: - Introduction & understanding flamenco: definition, roots, and the unique vision of a foreign, millennial artist. - Rhythm as language: palmas workshop, exploration of compás and the structures of different palos, and a demystification of flamenco’s codes. - From motif to compás: learning and adapting a musical motif across several palos (tangos, tanguillos, bulerías). - Improvisation & interaction: discovering freedom within the flamenco framework, learning the art of the remate, and encouraging collective musicianship.- Conclusion – tradition in motion: integrating flamenco creativity into one’s own musical practice. This masterclass offers an immersive experience where tradition and innovation meet, led by a passionate and committed musician. In partnership with the École de Musiques Actuelles (eMa).
