Description
The violins of the Renaissance in Europe LES SONADORI Béatrice LINON soprano violin Odile EDOUARD alto violin Nicolas SANSARLAT contralto violin Alain GERVREAU bassetto violin Works by Costanzo FESTA (c. 1485–1545), Cyprien DE RORE (c. 1515–1565), Josquin DES PRÉS (c. 1450–1521), Adrian WILLAERT (c. 1490–1562), Pierre DE LA RUE (c. 1452–1518), Josquin BASTON (c. 1515–after 1576), and others. This programme offers a musical journey through Italian, French and Dutch polyphony of the 16th century. Present in every song, motet or dance of the early Renaissance, polyphony encouraged the creation of ensembles of instruments among the same family, each size playing the voice corresponding to its range. Thus, Les Sonadori will brilliantly introduce us to the Renaissance violin!
