Fort l'Écluse
La Bâtie - Festival de Genève
In her latest album Chéris Ton Futur, Barbara Carlotti dives headfirst into French pop, after previously exploring more organic and poetic soundscapes. Drawing inspiration from a wide array of influences, from Gil Scott-Heron to The Stooges and Les Rita Mitsouko, she crafts a sound that’s unmistakably her own: rooted in the present, rich in rhythm and texture. The melodies linger in the mind, carried by arrangements that range from sleek and understated to quirky or even downright cosmic. With a voice that moves between shadow and light, Carlotti reflects on today’s world with tender melancholy, glancing back to better embrace what lies ahead. In this album, she opens up more than ever, summoning the ghosts of Rome, sharing doubts and heartbreaks, yet always aiming to turn pain into something luminous. Each song feels like a form of therapy, a step towards healing and hope. “Cherish your future and take care of your style!” she declares. With Chéris Ton Futur, Carlotti plays a vibrant role in the bold revival of French pop – and what better place to experience it than the stunning setting of Fort l’Écluse. Hosted and co-produced with Pays Gex Agglo and with the support of the Fonds Culturel Transfrontalier du Grand Genève (tbc)
