Undertown
La Bâtie - Festival de Genève
Back in the 2000s, New York's rock scene exploded with a wave of high-octane bands led by The Strokes and their raw, infectious energy. Two decades on, that legacy still echoes in the music of French artist Félix Dupuis, aka Feldup. But where Casablancas & co. thrived on brevity and punch, Feldup takes a different path, building many of his tracks like an architect, stretching them over ten minutes to craft atmospheres that are as unsettling as they are electrifying. Shifting between calm and fury, Feldup displays a sharp command of dynamics, skilfully layering distortion, tension and dissonance. His lyrics are dark, raw and deeply personal, reflections of past pain and hard-lived experiences. And his voice, urgent and teetering on the edge, gives his music an emotional intensity that’s impossible to ignore. Opening the night, Tania Praz, the Spanish/Swiss artist behind Moictani, promises to crank up the beat. What began solo in a bedroom is now a collaborative, fiery project marking a new chapter in her musical journey. With tracks like No Me Gusta, Moictani is shaping up to be a blast of energy ready to set Undertown alight.
