With this new monthly gathering, the Neuchâtel cultural space launches a series of Listening Sessions conceived as moments of collective, intimate and sharp listening, where music and dialogue become a terrain for encounters and new forms of creation. For the occasion, the Atelier transforms into an open living room, a place where we listen together, among enthusiasts, in a creative, warm and curious atmosphere. The format of JUST US is built on a simple dynamic: bringing together five DJs or producers from the region or beyond, invited to share, in 30 minutes, their current selections or their latest discoveries in a VINYL ONLY format, as well as their own productions, which can be presented digitally or through other analogue mediums. To participate, one simply needs to send a short presentation of themselves and a description of the set they wish to share. Based on these proposals, EMOH LEEF makes a selection to ensure artistic and sonic coherence. The five invited participants will be announced before the session, and the running order will be determined and communicated by EMOH LEEF. The five time slots are set in advance and integrated into the programme of each edition. JUST US also opens beyond our borders thanks to new technologies, notably through Instagram Live. At each session, EMOH LEEF invites a recognised international artist to perform live from their own space. For this first edition, it is Kamal Sabran, streaming from Ipoh in Malaysia, who will weave a sonic bridge between his universe and the Neuchâtel audience. A multidisciplinary artist, musician and researcher, he develops a singular body of work at the intersection of science, spirituality, philosophy and sound arts. His Space Gambus Experiment project, blending experimental electronics, traditional instruments and field recordings, has been presented in festivals, art centres and laboratories around the world, placing his practice among the most distinctive voices of the experimental scene in Southeast Asia. JUST US is an invitation to listen differently. At the Atelier, the atmosphere is one of active listening: the room settles, minds open. Both participants and audience members are invited to take their place, to discover, to let the music unfold. Each session becomes a journey. From the personal selections of the producers on site to the remote interventions, the music draws connections, builds bridges and links Neuchâtel to the rest of the world. After this first December edition, JUST US will return every second Friday of the month, with five new participants, an international guest and renewed sonic stories.
