Description

With Mediterráneo, Leonardo García-Alarcón and Cappella Mediterranea invite us on a luminous musical journey, blending personal memory, Spanish poetry and the Mediterranean heritage. Conceived as a dialogue across the centuries, this concert brings to life the world of Joan Manuel Serrat, a leading figure in Spanish-language song, through the colours, forms and spirit of Spain’s Golden Age. Throughout the programme, some of Serrat’s most iconic songs, including ‘Mediterráneo’ and ‘Aquellas pequeñas cosas’, are transformed into polyphonic madrigals, subtly reimagined for a ensemble of period instruments. The viola da gamba, harpsichord, recorder and guitar thus open up a new listening experience: that of music which is both familiar and transformed, where popular song engages in dialogue with the art of counterpoint, and the tenderness of memory with the sophistication of composition. True to the spirit of Cappella Mediterranea, this programme does not merely juxtapose repertoires: it brings to light profound connections between the texts, timbres, rhythms and imaginations of a shared Mediterranean world. What emerges, then, is less a static tribute than a truly living, sensitive and deeply musical recreation, brought to life by Leonardo García-Alarcón and his performers. The evening will take on an even more exceptional dimension with the presence in the audience of Joan Manuel Serrat, guest of honour at this unique concert. After the performance, he will take part in a post-concert discussion with the audience, offering a rare opportunity to exchange views on his work, the music and the Mediterranean world that permeates the entire programme.     ARTISTS María Hinojosa Montenegro, sopranoMariana Flores, sopranoLeandro Marziotte, altoValerio Contaldo, tenorHugo Oliveira, bass Leonardo García-Alarcón, organ, spinet, conductorQuito Gato, arrangements Cappella Mediterranea   In co-production with Cappella MediterraneaFull credits and acknowledgements can be found at lacitebleue.ch
