Bongo Joe
La Bâtie - Festival de Genève
A key figure in the Flemish experimental scene, Milan W fearlessly blends genres and constantly ventures into the unknown. Known for his electronic compositions, Milan Warmoeskerken has explored multiple musical paths, from dreamy synthpop with the duo Mittland och Leo (alongside Joke Leonare), to joyful kitsch Schlager in collaboration with Gerard Herman. Last year marked another bold shift with Leave Another Day, a more mellow and dreamy album that leans into hazy pop. Ethereal guitars, deep basslines, poignant brass and a spacious soundscape replaced the introspective yet expansive solo work that defined his earlier output. For the first time, Milan W takes the mic, singing dark love songs in a gentle voice, as if to ground the guitars that seem to soar skyward. The Antwerp-based artist keeps stretching the boundaries of his musical world, chasing an endless urge to create. Will he ever quench that creative thirst? Who knows? But we can’t wait to see him live, floating between two sonic worlds, in the intimate setting of Bongo Joe: a record shop known for its stellar sound system and deep appreciation for musicians. A place that promises to inspire him and send shivers down our spines.
