Description
EMOH LEEF presents an exceptional evening dedicated to the legacy of the Brazilian Master, composer and multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal, a major figure in world music and the creator of “Música Universal”. An unclassifiable artist, he notably collaborated with figures such as Miles Davis, who recognised in him a truly extraordinary musical personality. Conceived as a living musical journey, this concert pays tribute to a free, abundant and deeply inspiring body of work that has influenced generations of musicians across the globe. More than a repertoire, it is a constantly evolving language that will be explored here, through composition, improvisation and interaction. Singer Ana Malta and pianist Oscar Aldama lead this project with a sensitive and committed approach. Partners both on stage and in life, their artistic connection — already shared at EMOH LEEF during a memorable intimate concert last year — unfolds here in an expanded, open and generous form, rooted in a genuine sense of family. They will be joined for this exclusive concert by Jo Mayasi on drums. Together, they shape an organic soundscape where Brazilian traditions, contemporary influences and freedom of expression meet. Special guest of the evening, Jo Mayasi is a Swiss-Angolan drummer, producer and vocalist active on the European R&B, neo-soul and nu-jazz scene. His musical universe blends hip-hop, R&B and jazz, drawing inspiration from artists such as J Dilla, D'Angelo, Dwele, Tom Misch and Anderson .Paak. Through this project, he develops a personal synthesis between his cultural roots and a contemporary musical research. True to its identity, EMOH LEEF offers a human-scale experience, where listening, proximity and quality of presence come first. This evening reflects a desire to create a space of connection between artists and audience, in a warm atmosphere open to all generations and the curious alike.
