How do you approach this emblematic cycle of the art of the Lied that is Franz Schubert's Winterreise (Winter Journey) in an innovative way? This is the challenge taken up by these talented young artists, who revisit this romantic masterpiece of the 19th century with an original trio (two singers and a pianist) and a light and shade staging. Victoire Bunel and Jean-Christophe Lanièce imagine the monologues of two people shattered by a break-up who are unable to meet again. Beautifully lit by Philippe Gladieux and punctuated by texts by Antoine Thiollier, as if commenting on a diary, this rereading transforms a solitary inner journey into an impossible dialogue.
