Fondation Opale
Fondation Opale
The Arctic, an extreme ecosystem with a unique biodiversity, is warming up 3 to 4 times faster than the rest of the globe. Tara Polar Station, a project of the Tara Océan Foundation, is the first polar drifting base. This “ISS of the North Pole” will study the Arctic for the next twenty years, drifting with the ice. Danièle Rod, director of the Swiss Polar Institute since 2017, Romain Troublé, director of Tara Océan Foundation and initiator of the Tara Polar Station project, and Julia Schmale, professor at EPFL and director of EERL, will be at Fondation Opale to discuss the project, polar research and the challenges of these studies.
