Description
For the closing night of the Flamenco Nómada Festival, Flamenco Nómada and the ICAM join forces to present Sangre Sucia, the project of Andalusian cantaora Ángeles Toledano, one of the most distinctive and revealing voices of the contemporary flamenco scene. Sangre Sucia—the title of both the album and the concert—is an artistic proposal that blends tradition and innovation, rooting deep cante in a personal, feminine and resolutely contemporary form of expression. On stage, Toledano explores the dualities that shape her generation: heritage and modernity, roots and openness, shadow and light. The performance is an intense and immersive musical journey, where classical flamenco styles such as soleá, bulerías and alegrías resonate, enriched with a contemporary sensibility and a distinctive narrative force. Through themes that address sisterhood, women’s experiences, cultural inheritances and long‑silenced truths, Sangre Sucia becomes an ode to freedom, emotion and embodied expression. The title itself, literally “dirty blood”, stands as an affirmation of the complexity and authenticity of human experience, far from normative constructions and conservative gazes. Ángeles Toledano transforms this notion into a powerful celebration of life, memory and art, making flamenco a living, open and deeply human language. On stage, she will be accompanied by close musical collaborators, including guitarist Benito Bernal, with whom she brings this rich and expressive repertoire to life, offering the audience a moment of intense sharing between tradition and the contemporary—a festival finale that is emotional, profound and vibrant. *In partnership with the ICAM.
