In 2024, Ruth Childs was invited to present her Fantasia as part of the Dance among the Water Lilies cycle at Musée de l’Orangerie. The Anglo-American dancer and choreographer loved blending excerpts of her piece with Monet’s great paintings, matching colour to the musicality of her movements. Now, in the green setting of Parc des Evaux, she continues to develop Fantasia, a piece she created in 2019 as “a dive into the intimate layers of my physical and emotional memories, triggered by the classical music I listened to as a child”. In collaboration with Lausanne-based composer Stéphane Vecchione, her body dances, remembers, vibrates and resists in a moving, playful dialogue – now under open skies.
