Description

SCÈNES CROISÉES — Area Jeune Ballet & Equilibrio Dinamico   Two years after first meeting at the Centre des Arts, Area Jeune Ballet and Equilibrio Dinamico come together again for an evening of shared dance.   In ALA, Nnamdi Nwagwu, an Italian-Nigerian choreographer and the first Afro-Italian to create a work for the Stuttgart Ballet, returns to his roots through an Igbo word, the language of his family: ala, "the land". Set to music by DakhaBrakha, this 25-minute creation lets the body express what words cannot.   In Into Outside, by Édouard Hue, the individual faces the group: how to find one's place without erasing that of others. Area Jeune Ballet performs an excerpt, along with a piece by Rossana Caldarera.   Equilibrio Dinamico, from Bari, will present a new creation. The company has grown by opening itself to others, inviting choreographers from diverse backgrounds to create for it. Its aesthetic is both conceptual and contemporary, offering a compassionate view of the world.   Programme Area Jeune Ballet — "Performance 1", choreography Rossana Caldarera Area Jeune Ballet — Into Outside (excerpt), choreography Édouard Hue Area Jeune Ballet — ALA, choreography Nnamdi Nwagwu · new creation Equilibrio Dinamico — new creation   Equilibrio Dinamico (Bari, Italy) Artistic director: Roberta Ferrara Founded in 2011 by choreographer Roberta Ferrara, Equilibrio Dinamico is a contemporary repertory company with an international outlook. It invites choreographers from elsewhere to create for it, most recently (La)Horde and Marcos Morau. The magazine Hystrio describes it as "a voice outside the chorus" in young Italian dance. Recognised since 2021 by the Italian Ministry of Culture, the company has performed across Europe, the Americas and Asia.   Area Jeune Ballet (Geneva, Switzerland) Director: Guillaume Chevalier-Siard Founded in 2016, Area Jeune Ballet is the young ballet company of the Dance Area school in Geneva. Its dancers, aged 18 to 22, come from all over the world. Over the three years of the Advanced Training programme, they create with guest choreographers, go on tour and learn the stage by performing on it, alongside other companies such as Equilibrio Dinamico. Then they move on to other stages. This season, dancers from the 2025-2026 class, who came from Brazil, Italy and Australia, have joined Ballet Theater Hof in Germany, Sydney Dance Company, Conny Janssen Danst in Amsterdam, the National Ballet of Serbia and Cara B Danza in Madrid.   Photo © Grégory Batardon
