Description
A significant musical project, Black Lives breathes life into the cultural heritage of Afro-descendant communities by bringing together a mix of musical influences from the African diaspora. The collective has formed around a common desire, to combat racism through music, and brings together artists from diverse genres such as jazz, blues, funk, and gospel. Led by the New York vocalist Catherine Russel and the singer, composer, and guitarist Raul Midón, the impressive ensemble will feature no fewer than thirteen instrumentalists who will pulsate the Chapiteau stage with vibrant compositions imbued with a message of equality, freedom, and justice. A flagship group in the Geneva hip-hop scene, Captains of the Imagination began about a decade ago with a traditional setup featuring DJs and MCs, collaborating with avant-garde producers of the genre. Now performed live by high-level jazz musicians, the beats of Dr. Koul & Imagine accompanying their lyrics are further enriched by the voice of the indispensable Evita Koné. This astonishingly talented singer and rapper, with an irresistible voice, is a key figure in the Swiss neo-soul and R&B scene, transforming the raw energy of the group into a sweet nectar that is impossible to resist, thanks to her skillful flow and musicality. Overall, it promises to be a stunning performance that we can't wait to experience.
