Description
A man sitting in a heap of ashes, struck by untold misfortune and suffering, the reason for which he cannot understand. A succession of trials. The arbitrariness. The helplessness in the face of suffering. The impossibility of compassion. The inability of his friends to console him. In the Book of Job, the idea of unjust suffering, which is constantly reactivated by current events, finds the setting par excellence for its unfolding. Taking this as his starting point, Michel Petrossian writes and composes a musical drama in which three worlds interact - the Baroque heritage, traditional music and contemporary music - like an echo chamber for other dramas that shake the world, or shake up personal lives. DISTRIBUTION Michel Petrossian, composition and libretto Anaïs de Courson, direction and libretto Léo Margue, musical director Ensemble Contrechamps Namur Chamber Choir Cappella Mediterranea Feras Charestan, qanun Duration 1 hour 20 minutes, without intermission Coproduced by La Cité Bleue Genève, Ensemble Contrechamps, Chœur de chambre de Namur, Cappella Mediterranea and the Aga Khan Music Programme (AKMP).
