Les bals uniques aims to organise folk dances in unusual and exceptional venues: a grand Belle Époque hall, a cave, a disused factory… - 3 balls - Dance and instrumental workshops - Talks and other unusual events - Catering and a bar Every year, we organise at least one unique ball at the Salle Del Castillo in Vevey (Switzerland). A Belle Époque hall with a high-quality wooden floor, all on the shores of Lake Geneva. For newcomers, a balfolk features European dances, some ancient (bourrées, branles – 6th century), others less so (the waltz – 19th century), sometimes adapted, swaying, or blended with other influences (forró, salsa). They are group, couple or solo dances, with no specific costume required. Balfolk is both traditional and contemporary: bonds are forged there just as they have been in village dances for centuries, the arrangements are modern, and you can dance to 10th-century music accompanied by a hurdy-gurdy and electronic beats. Taking part in folk dancing means: - Experiencing and bringing to life a part of European culture. - Finding joy in the dance and in the connections made. - Sometimes stepping outside your comfort zone and growing.
