Bach et la Bible - Theatre and performing arts

At La Cité Bleue, words and music come together in a concert-reading performance full of listening and intensity: Bach and the Bible, conceived by director Omar Porras and pianist Cédric Pescia. On stage, two languages meet: the sacred and poetic language of the Scriptures and the equally spiritual language of Johann Sebastian Bach. Through a selection of biblical texts and a programme of keyboard works, this show offers a sensitive exploration of the intimate resonances between words and music. Omar Porras lends his voice to the Scriptures, moving from the captivating poetry of the Song of Songs to the prophecies of the Book of Daniel, from the First Letter to the Corinthians to the Apocalypse of John, while Cédric Pescia performs Bach's musical meditations, from the fugue in D major to the prelude in C minor, from the adagio di concerto in F minor to the Air in D major, in an interpretation that is both inspired and luminous. Part theatrical reading, part concert, Bach and the Bible is a journey: an invitation to rediscover the spiritual depth of Bach's music, rooted in biblical texts but open to everyone, believer or not, as a universal message. It is an intimate, powerful performance, carried by two exceptional artists united in their quest for meaning, beauty and silence.
