Harald Beharie - Undersang - Theatre and performing arts

Harald Beharie is an extraordinary dancer. At last year’s Emergentia festival, his Batty Bwoy stunned Geneva with its exceptional power in exploring the myths surrounding queer and Black bodies. With Undersang, the Norwegian/Jamaican artist returns to peel back the layers of stereotypes even further. In his first group piece, Beharie brings together six performers on the forested banks of the Rhône, in a mosaic of bodies moved by nature and tradition. Around us lies the earth, a single body, then more. Voices rise. Cries and roars echo in a raw chorus. Encounters awaken movements – nostalgic, sensual, glamorous and primal in an experience that conjures up troll-like creatures, African rites and the supernatural. For one unforgettable hour, the Rhône becomes a confluence of rivers – Congo, Nile, Mississippi, Amur all flowing together.   Hosted with the support of the Department of Culture and Communication of the City of Vernier   Scenes, words or images may offend viewers' sensibilities.Bring warm clothing if necessaryWalking outdoor show, in all weathers (except in the event of thunderstorms, which will be cancelled and reimbursed) Length 60-70' + audience walk into forest (20-30')
