Rencontres Musicales | La soirée des concertos - Theatre and performing arts

Welcome to Champéry for this summer's musical rendez-vous!The opening concert on Monday 31 July at 7pm features two magnificent concertos. 2 x 2 soloists While concertos for several solo instruments became rare in Brahms's Romantic period, they were commonplace in the Baroque period, right up to Mozart. The symmetry between these works in very different styles is all the more surprising. On the one hand, Mozart wanted to compose a flute concerto for a patron of the arts, who nevertheless asked to be allowed to play with his harpist daughter. On the other, Brahms initially thought of a cello concerto but added a violin in order to reconcile with a violinist friend. A rather prosaic artistic motivation? Never mind, these works are among the finest in the repertoire, and this opening night will shine with a thousand lights! DISTRIBUTION : - ANNA EGHOLM, violin ° ESTELLE REVAZ, cello- LUDIVINE MOREAU, flute ° LAUDINE DARD, harp- ENSEMBLE APPASSIONATO, conducted by MATHIEU HERZOG PROGRAMME : Wolfgang Amadeus MozartConcerto for flute and harp in C major, K. 299/297 Johannes BrahmsConcerto for violin and cello in A minor, Op. 102
