Flamenco Nomada
The percussionist José Ruíz “Bandolero” will offer a flamenco percussion workshop on May 10. This workshop is designed for all levels and will last 3 hours, focusing on compás and flamenco music. From 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM – Bandolero will lead the workshop, where participants will work on cajón technique and palmas, focusing on flamenco styles such as Bulerías (12-beat rhythms), hand techniques (palmas), as well as Cortes and Cierres. From 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM – The workshop will be co-hosted by flamenco singer Rafael Jiménez “Rafita de Madrid”, to explore the accompaniment of percussion with the voice and learn how to follow the vocal compás. From 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM – The workshop will be accompanied by trumpet player Enrique Rodríguez “Enriquito”, focusing on flamenco harmony and the accompaniment of percussion with the trumpet, based on the style being developed. During these 3 hours, participants will explore rhythm, vocal and instrumental accompaniment, and learn how to accompany established musicians from the Spanish flamenco scene. No prior knowledge is required, this workshop is open to all. A unique, enriching, and immersive experience in the world of flamenco.
