Description

Mainstream neurodiversity discourse often overlooks the systemic forces of racism, capitalism, and speciesism. Drawing on neuroqueer, neurotrans, and Marxist frameworks, the speaker will discuss the racist weaponization of autism, cisheteronormativity, ethnocentrism within contemporary neurodiversity discourse. The talk will also explore how capitalism acts as a source of neurodivergent disablement which bestializes marginalized bodies and advocate for the inclusion of nonhuman animals in neurodiversity frameworks.   The link to attend the talk is automatically sent via email after registration.      About the speaker  At the edge of philosophy and gender studies, Paris-based researcher Ombre Tarragnat‘s work investigates the complex borders between autism, animality, and societal norms.     About Talks @NeuroConvergences Join our monthly webinars for a candid, unfiltered conversation—about us, by us, for us.   Talks @NeuroConvergences is a space where we bridge interdisciplinary research, frontline advocacy, and lived experience and deep dive into the most pressing issues facing the neurodivergent community across different contexts.
