To the Pontic Greek dialect that constitutes the heart of the repertoire, the singer Clémence Gabrielidis and her guest Helena Morag mix Romaniote and Judeo-Spanish songs, paying homage to the Jewish figures of rebetiko.Assafir gives pride of place to improvisation and dedicates its music to singing: popular themes of exile, love or breakup, with hints of drugs and alcohol. Subjects that are always current, which the group transmits to the public through rich and original arrangements. Assafir's repertoire, with its often raw melodies and sometimes lame rhythms, is nonetheless a real invitation to dance.
