Description

Conceived and directed by Michał Telega, L’œil de Czapski is a performative reading paying tribute to Józef Czapski (1896–1993), a painter, writer, and major witness to the 20th century, who used his work as a means of fighting against totalitarianism, oblivion, and the falsification of history. The performance focuses on the painter’s perspective: his way of observing,  thinking, and capturing the world in his sketchbooks and journals. Texts are read by Victoire du Bois and Matthieu Sampeur, while artist Bogusław Bachorczyk draws live on stage. An experience that invites  the audience to pay attention to what, in everyday life, seems insignificant. Co-organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute with the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland.
