Description
Created at the Divine Comedy Festival in Kraków, this performance explores the intimacy and physicality of the female body through three images. The first is inspired by Lavinia in Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus: a wounded, mutilated, and humiliated body that bears the scars of trauma to the point of losing its identity. The second challenges the stereotypical image of the female body as an object of male desire. The performers (actresses-dancers) seek to bring forth an alternative representation, in defiance of cultural norms of femininity. The last image addresses motherhood—a social role traditionally assigned to women—and thus responds to the tightening of Polish policies regarding women’s reproductive rights. A performance committed to defending women’s right to make decisions about their own bodies as they see fit. Triptyque sur la féminité © DR,
